Acrylic Office Signs for Assil Gaur Eye Institute, Beverly Hills — Project Notes

Clear acrylic wall sign with colorful logo in a Los Angeles office

Table of Contents

Assil Gaur Eye Institute, an ophthalmology practice in Beverly Hills, asked us for interior signage that looked as precise as the medicine practiced behind it. We designed, fabricated and installed a set of acrylic signs for the institute. These are the project notes, and what they show about choosing acrylic signs for a medical office in Los Angeles.

Why acrylic for a medical office

  • Clean, clinical finish. Polished acrylic with second-surface printing (the graphics printed on the back, seen through the face) gives a glass-like look that suits a clinic and matches glass partitions and reception desks.
  • Easy to disinfect. A flat acrylic face wipes down with standard cleaners without lifting the print — a practical point in an exam-room corridor.
  • Precise color. The practice’s brand colors were matched exactly; acrylic holds color indoors for years.
  • Stand-off mounting. Brushed-metal standoffs hold each panel a short distance off the wall, so the sign reads as an object rather than a sticker.

How we approach a set like this

Every panel is mocked up on photos of the actual walls before fabrication, so the practice sees exact sizes, colors and placement in advance. Reception, wayfinding and room signs are produced in the same material and finish, so the office reads as one brand from the entrance to the exam rooms, and installation is scheduled around patient hours.

ADA — the part medical offices cannot skip

Permanent rooms in a medical office (exam rooms, restrooms, offices) must carry ADA-compliant identification: raised tactile characters, Grade 2 braille, non-glare finish and specific mounting heights. Acrylic works for this too — the tactile layer is applied to the panel — and it lets the ADA signs match the rest of the set instead of looking like an afterthought. See ADA signs for the rules we build to.

Options within acrylic

  • Second-surface print (as here) for a glossy, protected face.
  • Frosted acrylic for a softer look and partial privacy on glass walls.
  • Layered acrylic — a logo cut from colored acrylic and mounted on a clear or frosted panel for depth.
  • Back-lit acrylic for a reception feature sign; see lobby signs.
