Don Sazon Inc makes blended seasonings and spices a few doors down from our shop on Montague Street in Pacoima. Their Taco Truck line – Carne Asada, Pollo Asado and Marisco seasoning – is heading to an upcoming show, and they needed a display that sets up in a minute and gets noticed across a hall. We printed and assembled four roll-up banners for them.
What we built
Four retractable banner stands on brushed-aluminum bases, each printed edge to edge from Don Sazon’s own artwork: the graffiti-style Taco Truck wordmark, the taco truck rolling out of a palm-lined skyline, and the flavor name in its own color – orange for Carne Asada (two of these), sky blue for Marisco and yellow for Pollo Asado. Lined up together they read as one wall of color; on their own each one works as a stand-alone sign next to a table or a shelf of product.
Why roll-up banners for a show
- Set-up in seconds. Pull the graphic up, clip the pole, done. No tools, no wall.
- Travel-friendly. Each stand rolls into its base and slides into a carry bag that fits in a car trunk.
- Reusable. The graphic is a printed, laminated panel on a spring roller, so the same banners come out for the next show, the next demo day, the next store visit.
- Consistent color. All four were printed in one run in our Pacoima shop, so the oranges and yellows match from stand to stand.
Getting the print right
Bold flat color shows every flaw, so we proofed the files at full size before printing, matched the brand colors to Don Sazon’s packaging, and laminated the panels so they survive being rolled and unrolled at every event.
