MBP Solutions, in Van Nuys, wanted privacy for a glass-walled meeting area without giving up the open feel of the office, and they wanted the brand on the wall. We did both with one material: a band of frosted vinyl with the company logo and name cut out of the frost, so the mark reads as clear glass against the etched-looking background.
How it works
Frosted (etched-glass) film goes on as a solid panel. Instead of applying a logo on top of it, we cut the logo out of the film before installation, using the same vector artwork the company uses for print. The result is a negative logo: light passes through the letters, the rest of the panel diffuses it. Up close it looks like sandblasted glass; from across the room the logo pops without any color at all.
Details
- Material: Aslan frosted window film, a German-made etched-glass vinyl with an even, fine-grain frost that does not show streaks or adhesive lines.
- Installation: second-surface (inside the meeting room), wet-applied for a bubble-free finish on a large single panel, cut-outs weeded on site.
- Design: the frost band stops below the ceiling so daylight from the outer windows still crosses the office.
Frosted film with a die-cut logo is one of the most requested items for offices, clinics and law firms in Van Nuys and across Los Angeles: it does privacy, branding and code-required glass marking in one pass.
