Spirits brands bring us a lot of work that is not a sign in the usual sense: bars, carts, barrels and displays that travel to shows and events. This pair of barrels was wrapped for a Tequila Herradura show, using the artwork from Herradura’s Los Angeles Dodgers partnership: “Cheers to the Winning Spirit.”
What we did
Two full barrel wraps, printed in our Pacoima shop and applied by hand. Each wrap carries the Herradura × Dodgers lock-up, the bottle and cocktail photography, the campaign line and the required responsibility copy, printed in full color with a protective laminate so the barrels survive a show floor, hand trucks and spilled drinks.
Why a barrel is harder to wrap than a wall
A barrel is not a cylinder. It is wider in the middle than at the ends, and the hoops and stave joints break up the surface. A flat print will not wrap it without wrinkles, so the artwork is split into panels that follow the taper, each panel is applied and worked into the curve with heat, and the seams are placed where the eye does not look. Getting the bottle to sit straight across a curved, tapered surface is the part that takes experience.
